5 Fantastic {stress-free} Things To Do This Holiday Season!!

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Want to do something REALLY special this Holiday season? We have 5 ideas that are sure to make this year unforgettable!

5) See something you’ve never seen before! October 8th – January 17th, Masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris. Seattle has been blessed with a collection of Picasso paintings that were never meant to leave Paris. This exhibit is a must-see for all art lovers and features paintings, drawings, sculptures, and photographs from Picasso’s personal studio. **Seattle Art Museum membership cards would also make a perfect gift for the art and history buff in your life!**

4) Try a new recipe! Adding a pinch of cinnamon, some cayenne pepper, or even a candy cane can really spice up your holiday hot chocolate recipes. Check out these great ideas from our friends on the Food Network and try out a few recipes to see which one your loved ones like the best!

For the toffee fans, this hot chocolate recipe will make your taste-buds sing.

3) Donate a meal to someone in need! Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission has been serving the hurting and homeless in our community through emergency and long-term services for over 78 years. For just $1.92 (Less than a Grande Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte) you can feed one person a full Thanksgiving dinner including pie! You can also volunteer your time as a server or cook during the dinner event.

2) See The Lights of Christmas! The Lights of Christmas has been a Northwest tradition for many years and is an outing that everyone can enjoy whether you’re cuddled up by the fire listening to carolers with your sweetie or walking your children through the petting zoo. The displays of lights are brilliant and beautiful, and the Christmas play put on by the kids is always fun to watch (HINT: bring tissues for the sentimental moments). I recommend seeing the live jazz show put on by the Arlington High School’s “Jazzmine” group, it’s always a crowd-pleaser and boy can those kids SING!

1) Grab your mittens, wrap your scarf, and GO! Finally bring that extra bit of joy into the season by reliving the childhood tradition of “the hunt”. Bundle up and run through rows of naturally grown pines searching for that perfect Christmas Tree for your home, then fulfill your lifelong lumberjack dreams and cut it down yourself! There are several U-CUT farms in the Arlington and Snohomish County areas, often times serving hot chocolate or mulled cider for your enjoyment.
